This is my second project in the Google Coursera UX course. I have already created the theater snack ordering app to app pre order snacks & get them delivered on the seat. In this project, my focus was on building the related responsive website.

Role
Designing website from conceptualization to delivery
- User research
- Conducting interviews
- Paper & Digital Wireframing
- Low & High fidelity Prototyping
- Mockup creation
- Accounting for accessibility
- Usability testing
Project goal
Enabling users to pre order snacks & get them delivered on the seat. We’re creating a new theater snack ordering app called SnackEasy to pre order snacks & get them delivered on the seat. We noticed that currently there are hardly any direct competitors. We want to create a product that can avail customers to skip the long waiting in queues, and provide a seamless experience to increase customer satisfaction
Target audience
I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the users I’m
designing for and their needs. A primary user group identified through research
was people who visit a movie theater as an individual or in a group and place snack orders at a counter.
This user group research revealed that reaching theater well in advance is not possible for busy individuals, and they feel nervous about standing in a queue as it can lead to missing the movie.
People aged between 18-60 who reside in metropolitan and suburb areas and visit theater frequently.

Persona
Problem statement:
Jane is a busy working mother who needs An app to place large snack orders at a discounted price before arriving at the theater because she wants a hassle free, economical & pleasing movie experience with her family
User Journey Map
Key challenges or constraints
Users need to wait in a queue for a long time to get snacks. It’s difficult for users to reach theatre well in advance to get snacks

Initial design concepts
Because Snackeasy customers access the site on a variety of different devices, I started to work on designs for additional screen sizes to make sure the site would be fully responsive.
Digital Wireframes

Lo-fi Prototype for Usability Study

Sitemap
For an easier navigation, I created a sitemap.
My goal here was to make strategic information architecture decisions that would improve overall website navigation and make things simple and easy.

Mockups
Early designs allowed for some customization, but after the usability studies, I made multiple changes to the original wireframes in terms of navigation and overall placement

Final Mockup

High-fidelity prototype

Takeaways
Impact:
The website gives a hassle free, economical & pleasing experience to the users
One quote from peer feedback:
“This website is super cool. It’s easy and useful. I would definitely use this app.”
What I learned:
While designing the SnackEasy website, I learned that the first ideas for the website are only the beginning of the process. Usability studies and peer feedback influenced each iteration of the app’s designs. While making research, I learnt that user interviews are the main source to truly identify user needs, pain points, goals and frustrations.
Even a small design change can have a huge impact on the user experience. Accessibility is also crucial in developing good user experience.

Thank you!
